The STEP writer allows developers to export B-rep data from Publish to STEP. The file extensions that you can create when you export the data are:
The versions of STEP available for export are AP203Ed2, AP214Ed1, or AP242.
The full assembly tree is exported with all the instancing information maintained.
When we export to STEP we look at the source data and map each surface to one of the following:
...and curves to one of the following:
When the B-rep is not present, the tessellation is exported as FACETED_BREP.
STEP version AP242
The writer for STEP version AP242 supports the export of the following data:
- PMIs as polylines (text glyphs are outlined).
- Views (with cameras, sections, and visibility management if present).
- User-defined attributes (metadata for geometry or parts).
- Validation properties are computed and saved into the file. They are available for parts, exact geometry (but not for tessellation/FACETED_BREP), PMIs, and Views. A report is also added at the end of the log file.
Views are supported by our STEP file writer for version AP242.
PMI is supported by our STEP file writer.
Colors, layers, transparency, and default visibility are also managed.
