Quick Publisher Explained

The Quick Publisher is a fantastic way to get a pipeline defined and running quickly. However, if one needs to deviate from what is created or wants to add or skip actions then they need a deeper understanding of the associated created pipeline.

Notes:

  • The Quick Publisher only uploads three items to the Catalog (CAD file, PNG thumbnail, SpinFire Web file)

  • CAD attributes and physical properties are also added to the Catalog entry.

  • The Quick Publisher is limited to Include filters; exclude filter cannot be set.

  • You can only select to convert to PDF, JT, STL, STEP, HSF, PRC, SAT, SAB, IGES, Parasolid, and U3D.

  • You cannot set Advanced features through the Quick Publisher dialog such as the timeout values. This may be wanted for files that are larger in nature and need more time to convert. The default is 10 minutes.


Trigger

The Quick Publisher always uses the Directory Watcher trigger.

Quick Publisher Fields

The following describes where each of the Quick Publisher fields are used in created the pipeline, trigger, and actions.


Name

  • Used as the name of the pipeline.

  • Used at the beginning to name all triggers and actions.

Source Directory

  • Used to fill in the Watched directory field in the Directory Watcher trigger.

Destination Directory

This field is used with the relative path to store files that are created or converted.

  • Used in the Output filename field in the CAD to PNG image action.

  • Used in the Resource filepath field in the Resource to Catalog (upload PNG) action.

  • Used in the Output filename field in the CAD Conversion action.

  • Used in the Resource filepath field in the Resource to Catalog (upload converted CAD) action.

  • Used in the Target filepath field in the CAD to SpinFire action.

  • Used to fill in the Output filename field in the CAD Conversion (PDF) action.

  • Used to fill in the Default output filename field in the CAD2CAD Conversion action.

Filter

  • Used to fill in the Include files field in the Directory Watcher trigger.

CAD File Extensions

  • Used to set the Included CAD File Extensions field in the Directory Watcher trigger.

Watch sub-directories

  • Used to fill in the Watch sub-directories field in the Directory Watcher trigger.

Add existing files

  • Sets the Add existing files check box in the Directory Watcher trigger.

Open archive files

  • Sets the Open archive files check box in the Directory Watcher trigger.

Publish to SpinFire

  • Adds the CAD to SpinFire action to the pipeline.

Publish to PDF

  • Adds the CAD Conversion action to the pipeline.

  • Sets the PDF check box in theCAD Conversionaction.

Publish to STEP

  • Adds the CAD2CAD Conversion action to the pipeline.

  • Sets the STEP check box in the CAD2CAD Conversion action.

Publish to JT

  • Adds the CAD2CAD Conversion action to the pipeline (if it doesn’t already exist).

  • Sets the JTcheck box in the CAD2CAD Conversion action.

Publish to STL

  • Adds the CAD2CAD Conversion action to the pipeline (if it doesn’t already exist).

  • Sets the STL check box in the CAD2CAD Conversion action.

Publish to Catalog

  • Does not add to the pipeline

  • Allows user to set the Upload native CAD, Generate and upload thumbnail, Publish to SpinFire Web, Publish CAD physical properties, and Publish CAD attributes fields in the Quick Publisher.

Upload native CAD

  • Adds the CAD to SpinFire action to the pipeline.

Generate and upload thumbnail

  • Adds the CAD to PNG action to the pipeline.

  • Adds anotherResource to Catalogaction to the pipeline for uploading the PNG file.

Publish to SpinFire Web

  • Adds the CAD Conversion action to the pipeline, setting a HWF file to be generated.

  • Adds another Resource to Catalog action to the pipeline for uploading the HWF file.

Publish CAD physical properties

  • Adds the Physical Properties action to the pipeline.

Publish CAD attributes

  • Adds the CadAttributes to DataDoc action to the pipeline.

Projects

  • Sets the Properties field for the CAD to Catalog action.
