1.3. SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

Projects planned to be delivered within the next 4 months:

  • Siemens NX Reader (3D): Support of reference sets

  • Opening a file by drag&drop:
    • New pop-up dialog to confirm operation to be done (Opening the file in a new workspace or importing this file in the active workspace)

  • “CAD Importer presets”:
    • The CAD importer presets have been expanded from three to four levels, with fine-tuned values to provide clearer workflow options and better balance between detail and performance.

    • Access when opening a file: when opening a file by a File>Open, by a drag and drop, or by a double-click on the file, a new pop-up dialog enables user to select a different CAD importer presets.

  • CREO Reader: Support of layers at assembly level.

  • glTF format improvements:
    • Support of DRACO compression for glTF Reader & Writer

    • Wireframe import/export

1.4. MID-TERM PROJECTS

Planned or on-going projects that might be delivered mid-term (up to 12 months):

  • Step AP242 Edition 4.

  • New format support: PLM/XML reader
    • PLM/XML format is an XML-based file format designed by Siemens PLM Software to facilitate interaction in product lifecycle management.

  • Performance:
    • Large assemblies loading time improvement

1.5. LONG-TERM PROJECTS

Longer term projects we are considering:

  • New format support: Creo View
    • Creo View is becoming more common as an interchange format in manufacturing and PLM workflows.

*New format support: QIF Reader
  • QIF (Quality Information Framework) is a standardized MBD (Model-Based Definition) format designed for interoperability in manufacturing, enabling precise CAD-to-metrology data exchange and improving automation in quality inspection workflows.

  • New format support: IFC Export
    • This new export capability will help design applications in manufacturing, plant design, ship building spaces to share their data with BIM applications. For example, an assembly designed in a CAD software will be shared with a BIM application to federate models. The first version of the IFC Writer will support a subset of the IFC classes and will be delivered as a Beta version in the future.

  • New format support: MicroStation DGN V7 & V8 Reader
    • DGN MicroStation is a CAD software platform developed by Bentley Systems and used in the architectural and engineering industries.

  • New format support: USD Writer
    • USD (Universal Scene Description) is an open framework for 3D data interoperability, enabling collaboration, asset exchange, and real-time rendering across industries, with strong adoption in platforms like NVIDIA Omniverse for digital twins, simulation, and AI-driven workflows.
