Platform Setup With Windows Server

Windows Server 2012 R2 / Windows Server 2008 R2 (Amazon EC2 GPU Instance)

These steps have been tested on the following AMIs: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Base - ami-f544a3b1 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Base - ami-7344a337.

  1. Install a non-RDP Remote access client: i.e. TightVNC. This application should be configured to start automatically when Windows boots. Please ensure the appropriate port forwarding or other network-related options are correctly set up.

  2. After installation of the remote access client, reboot the machine.

  3. Reconnect to the machine using the non-RDP remote access client.

  4. Download the NVIDIA grid graphics driver.

  5. Install the graphics driver and reboot the machine.

  6. Open the Device Manager and expand the “Display Adapters” item. Disable “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.” Note: This may Also appear as “Standard VGA Graphics Adapter”.

  7. Reboot the machine.

  8. Download and install the Visual Studio Redistributable listed on the Supported Platforms page.

You are now ready to use HOOPS Communicator.
